Why Seabird College
Seabird College began as a dream of Seabird Island‘s Chief Administrative Officer, Chuck McNeil, and Grand Chief Archie Charles many years ago. They dreamed that one day, Seabird Island would be able to have its Community Members, and the members of our neighboring communities, get a college level education within their community and that this college education would take into account the specific learning needs of our First Nations people and in 2009, the Band opened Seabird College.
Our Commitment
Your success in education is our main goal. We understand that coming back to school may be difficult, especially if you have been out of school for a while or you are juggling family and work responsibilities. To assist you we employ a Student Services Worker who will act as each student’s advocate and champion. They will work one-on-one with you to ensure that we give you the right amount of support to ensure your success with us.
We also provide counseling and wellness services to students to assist with stress, anxiety, substance use/abuse, depression, and anything else that may mentally affect your education goals.
We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and accessible environment for all students and those who have mental or physical disabilities. For those students who have disabilities we encourage you to get in contact with us so that we can work with you to remove your barriers and develop an individualized learning plan to meet your needs.
